Continuity Clinic - Family Health Center

Continuity of care for a diverse patient population is foundational to the family medicine specialty. Family Health Center serves as the continuity clinic for our family medicine residents and is located on Baton Rouge General’s Mid City campus. The Mid City campus is a post-acute medical center that provides a variety of services including primary care, home health, hospice, palliative care, graduate medical education, imaging, rehab, surgery and more.

The very diverse patient population at Family Health Center allows residents to see both routine and complicated medical issues and become competent at required procedures by the end of the program. Rotations at Family Health Center begin in PGY-1. By PGY-3 each resident, with oversight from faculty, has their own panel of patients whose care the resident will manage for the duration of their time at the clinic. Residents tell us year after year that the relationships they form with patients during this time is the most rewarding aspect of their training.
