Mammography
Mammography, a high-resolution x-ray of the breast, can detect cancer well before you notice symptoms. Annual mammograms are recommended for women age 40 and older, and for younger women who have a known increased risk of breast cancer.
Mammography Options
- Traditional 2D Mammography is an advanced technology that allows your doctor to examine your breast tissue by taking two x-ray images from the top and side of the breast.
- 3D Mammography takes multiple images of the breast in seconds, using low x-ray energy, decreasing radiation exposure to below FDA guidelines and allowing your doctor to examine your breast tissue one layer at a time
3D mammograms are not available at BRG Imaging & Radiology Center - O'Neal.
We are now offering Saturday mammograms from 8 a.m. - Noon at Baton Rouge General - Ascension.
