Dr. Cotton is a wonderful, personable physician. She listens to her patients and explains lab and test results promptly. She often goes above and beyond the scope of duty for her patients. She treats you like family.
I love doctor Cotton, she has been nothing but great since I started seeing her. She always ask about the family and shows real concern about her patients. Only thing I don't like is I never get my phone call about my results. I literally have to call to get things explained to me. That would be the only thing I suggest they do something about. Other than that I love this place

Hi, the wait time is too long. The way they send you to the room and you have to wait for the doctor, I think that's not timely enough. The check-in part was good. She sent me straight to the room. However, it took the medical assistant a minute to come in. And when she did, I just felt like it needed to be a little faster.

We have been very pleased with Dr. Cotton and her staff. They have shown very much, been very professional with us. We got in on time when we called and they returned our call. It was not that next day was, the same day was immediately following the next day. And so we're very, very, very pleased with her and we would recommend her for others.
Many different labs came back outside of the normal range but no one called to discuss it with me. I believe that the results are related to other symptoms that I have been experiencing but I had no opportunity to discuss that. My symptoms are now being treated individually rather than as a whole. I tried to reach out to the office today but got no response.
The office is well run very clean and efficient. When you check it you are usually immediately sent to your assigned room. No waiting area to sit in incase of illnesses. I highly recommend this office and especially Dr. Cotton. I few years back I chose her over 3 other primary care doctor that I tried and I have been with her since. She is great down to early and truly cares and knows her patients.
This was my first visit with my new Primary Care Doctor. I felt she heard my concerns and the communication was effective between the both of us. My daughter recommended her and now I see why. I look forward to her taking care of my well being.

And the only reason why I chose someone for medical history, 'cause it was my first time meeting with her and we discussed medical history, so she didn't really have an opportunity to know my medical history 'cause she had never met me. So otherwise it would be all perfect score for her. Very knowledgeable, good bedside manner, definitely felt listened to and heard and that she followed up on my concerns. So I would give her a 10 out of 10.

Also her nurse practitioner was super knowledgeable, very caring. She was amazing. I really was really happy that I had the benefit of being able to have her on my care team as well.

Yes, we have been a patient of Dr. Shavaun Cotton for numerous years. I forgot how many. She was in Baton Rouge and now that she's at the Ascension location, we've seen her down here. However, there have been times we needed refills and we couldn't get a response for several days. For this visit particularly, I saw the nurse that took my vitals. I saw a new PA that she has that was very nice and friendly and professional and then Dr. Cotton herself. I made this statement to Dr. Cotton, either your staff can help you or break you and she's aware of that.

I love Dr. Cotton. The front staff... front desk staff or check-in staff, they're always great. The time frame of which I actually met with the nurse post check-in was very brief. So everything was really prompt. Dr. Cotton is always great. The nurse was phenomenal. I really liked her. I even informed her that typically I do not allow that location to draw my blood, even if fasting. Because typically the tech struggles to draw my blood. But that nurse was phenomenal. She was able to draw my blood, no issues. I really appreciated that as a patient who has small rolling veins. And literally one stick and I was out of there. So I really appreciated that. Dr. Cotton is always great. She always listens. And honestly, I'm always really excited to go see her. I'm really grateful to have my primary care physician be Dr. Cotton.
Dr. Cotton and her nurse made my first visit pleasant and productive. Although she was running behind schedule, her nurse communicated that information to me in a timely manner. I felt comfortable sharing my previous medical history. My lab results were communicated with me with actionable next steps by the nurse practioner via mychart, which is awesome. And I was at a bad point with my health and all because of her I'm in a better position, especially with my A1C and dealing with diabetes. And I wish I can get all my family members to go see her, especially by us being big people weight-wise. So I'm very grateful.

I've been seeing Dr. S. Cotton for nearly 10 years now and she's always been great and really listens to everything that I have to say or my concerns at the time and has always been really great at understanding and diagnosing anything that is wrong.
I think follow up appointments should be offered at the end of appointments when needed and not told to just call and schedule a next appointment.

Every time I have called this doctor's office, I cannot get a live person on the phone. I was told the phones had a problem and they were aware of it, that was over a month ago! I have several doctors at different facilities and have never experienced this terrible lack of service. I like Dr. Cotton, but I am now looking for a new doctor that has a staff that answers the phone.
The staff is always friendly, from the receptionist to the nurses, to the doctor and physician assistants. I absolutely love Dr. Cotton and am happy I decided to make her my PCP years ago. She's attentive, knowledgeable and has the best bedside manner. I appreciate and trust her as my PCP.

You can improve the wait time on a phone call when someone is trying to call because the time wait for someone to pick up a call is ridiculous. Everything else was fine. I just don't like the idea you have to wait so long for someone to answer the phone. They put you on hold, you listen to music. It's just ridiculous. I held on one time for 20 minutes and the one never came. I hung up. So maybe they need someone else to help out on answering the phone calls. Everything else was okay.
With Dr. Cotton, there's nothing left to be denied. The comment that I'm getting ready to make is a compliment to the whole, not only to Dr. Cotton, but to the whole staff. They made me feel like they were waiting for me to make sure my health is in 100%. Thank you.
