BRG Welcomes Robotic Surgeon Dr. Tuan Tran

BATON ROUGE, La. – Tuan Tran, MD, an advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgeon specializing in general and bariatric surgery, recently joined Baton Rouge General’s Advanced Robotics Institute. Using the most advanced, minimally invasive techniques, Dr. Tran treats inguinal hernias, abdominal wall hernias, gastroesophageal reflux disease, gallbladders, and colon diseases. He also performs weight loss surgery at BRG’s Louisiana Center for Bariatrics.

A New Iberia native, Dr. Tran completed his undergraduate degree at LSU in Baton Rouge and earned his medical degree at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. He then completed his general surgery residency at LSU Health Sciences Center and underwent a rigorous Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship in Florida at AdventHealth Tampa. While in fellowship, he focused primarily on performing gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, and revisional bariatric surgery particularly converting a sleeve gastrectomy to gastric bypass.

Board-certified in general surgery, Dr. Tran is also a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the American College of Surgeons, American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
