BATON ROUGE, La. – This year’s top baby names at Baton Rouge General’s Birth Center include a few familiar favorites joined by some newer classics.

For girls, Amelia is in the #1 spot again at BRG, and it also sits in first place statewide. Amelia broke into the national top 10 in 2016 and hasn’t left, landing at #4 again this year. Evelyn jumped from 4th to 2nd at BRG. This classic name has gained popularity both in Louisiana and in the nation for the past 5 years, making it into both top 10 lists. Olivia, another long-time favorite on baby name lists, ranks 4th at BRG this year, but takes the top spot nationally and 2nd in Louisiana. Rounding out BRG’s top names is Aria in the 3rd spot and London/Londyn in 5th. Neither of these names is on the state or national top 10 list.

Moving up from 4th last year to the top spot for boys is Elijah. It’s also the third most popular baby name in Louisiana, down one spot from 2023. Another repeat from last year’s list is familiar favorite Luke, which sits at 3rd. But Luke did not make the national top 10 and barely made the state list, at #9. Benjamin is 2nd at BRG but for the first time since 2015 isn’t on the national top 10 list. Theodore is in the #4 spot at BRG in the #7 spot nationally. This classic name first broke into the national top 10 list in the 10th spot in 2021 and has crept up in popularity since. Greyson is 5th at BRG but hasn’t been in the Louisiana top 10 since 2020 (10th).
