LPN Advanced Placement BSN Program

William Carey University at Baton Rouge General’s LPN Advanced Placement Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is designed to allow LPNs to complete their BSN degree while balancing life with educational and career goals. The program offers both full-time and part-time plans of study, as well as two delivery formats:

Traditional Format

The program is available in an in-person format due to lab, clinical, and preceptorship hours required for degree completion. However, there are a few required courses in the curriculum and a few electives that are delivered in an online or hybrid format.

Hybrid Format (LA Residents)

The hybrid program option is designed to allow completion of the BSN degree without requiring relocation. Theory courses are taught using asynchronous online lectures and assignments. Alternate geographical in-person clinical sites possible (based on student enrollment).

The LPN Advanced Placement BSN program operates on a trimester system with fall, winter, spring, and summer trimesters consisting of ten weeks. Admission is competitive and acceptance to the university does not guarantee admission to the nursing program.

Plan of Study

LPN AP students have the option to adjust their plan of study between full-time and part-time as needed each term.

Full-Time Plan of Study

6 trimesters (18 months), if maintained for the duration of the program.

Part-Time Plan of Study

10 trimesters (30 months), if maintained for the duration of the program.

The LPN Advanced Placement BSN program accepts applicants for two admission cycles each year:

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, beginning six months prior to the desired admission term; but we strongly encourage applications be submitted by the following dates:

  • Fall Admission – April 15
  • Spring Admission – October 15
