Nurse Development Opportunities at Baton Rouge General

Professional development opportunities are an important part of professional growth and quality of care both at the start and throughout your nursing career. At Baton Rouge General we offer several development opportunities as you begin your career as a nurse. We offer the tools to help you learn what you love about nursing, advance your career and choose your career path.

Nurse Tech Program

Our nurse tech program offers current nursing students an early start to work in the nursing field and helps them successfully transition to valued members of our nursing team. During the program, students work collaboratively under the supervision of registered nurses to deliver treatments and interventions to patients in a hospital setting. The program enhances the learning experience by focusing on the knowledge and skills that are critical to quality patient care. Nurse Internship

Our nurse intern program provides an enhanced learning experience that develops the skills critical to administering quality patient care in an acute care setting while facilitating a successful transition from the role of nursing student to a valued member of our nursing team. It is a 6-week concentrated summer partnership with a personal Preceptor in a selected clinical area. Upon completion of the 6-week portion you will be required to pick up one 12-hour shift per month until you graduate to fully complete the program. Once school begins there will be some flexibility. Nurse Residency Program

The objective of our nurse residency program is to enable you to develop from an advanced beginner into a competent, professional nurse. This 10-month program provides evidenced-based curriculum and supports you as a new nurse to a competent level of practice. The program is structured to help you develop in the areas of leadership, quality outcomes, informatics, communication, and conflict resolution.
