BATON ROUGE, La. – All Baton Rouge General (BRG) hospital campuses – Bluebonnet, Mid City and Ascension – will remain open during Hurricane Ida. BRG Physicians’ clinics will be closed Monday, Aug. 30, and surgeries scheduled for Monday have been postponed. Doctors’ offices will continue to be in touch with patients with the most up-to-date plans.
At this time, BRG’s Express Care locations will close at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29 and will tentatively open in the late afternoon on Monday. Monday’s closures also include cardiac rehabilitation, outpatient wound care, and radiation oncology. The imaging clinics inside each hospital will remain open, though the imaging clinics on Dijon and O’Neal lane will be closed.
The National Weather Service forecasts that Hurricane Ida will be a Category 3 storm at landfall, expected to bring dangerous storm surge and strong winds. BRG’s facilities are well-prepared with adequate supplies and hurricane generators, and its emergency management team is closely monitoring the situation.
As with any tropical weather system, there is still some uncertainty about intensity and path. Baton Rouge General will continue to share updates via its social media channels and media outlets as needed. For more information, visit brgeneral.org/weather.
