Now that Louisiana is in Phase 3, more and more people are beginning to feel comfortable returning to the events and activities they’ve missed over the last few months. But as you venture out, experts warn that you shouldn’t lower your guard. In a recent study, people with COVID were twice as likely to report having dined at a restaurant in the previous two weeks. While many activities are easy to accomplish with a mask on, eating or drinking isn’t one of them.
It’s ok to get out of the house if you feel comfortable, just keep wearing your mask and washing your hands frequently. At a restaurant, where you can’t wear a mask, be extra careful to distance from people not in your party, and put your mask back on if you get up from the table for any reason. Taking advantage of outdoor dining when possible is another way to lower your risk.
Wearing a mask has proven to be one of the most effective protections against COVID. In addition to reducing the risk of contracting the virus, it may also help reduce the severity of the infection for those who do get sick.
