For many of us, cleaning out your ears is a process between you and your Q-tip. But did you know it can be hurting more than helping? Ear wax is a sign of a healthy ear and doesn’t need routine cleanings. It’s self-regulating and even carries health benefits such as antibacterial and antifungal properties. The real concern is when it becomes impacted, blocking the ear canal, causing symptoms like ringing in the ears or hearing loss. Ironically, health officials say blockage most often occurs from people digging around in the first place! If you suspect you may have blockage, put the Q-tip down and try these options to gently clean your ears out at home.
- Baby Muslin Washcloths
- Hydrogen Peroxide
- Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
- Hand Bulb Ear Syringe
