Second grade Girl Scouts learn safety tips from Baton Rouge General emergency responders

Baton Rouge, La. – This past Sunday, October 15, three emergency responders from Baton Rouge General spent time with Girl Scout Troop 10352. The 17 second graders learned about basic first aid, trick-or-treating safety and instructions for calling 9-1-1.

Popular activities included emergency technicians Brandon Droy, Brittany Neal and Mack Perry giving the 7- and 8-year olds a guided ambulance tour and simulating a 9-1-1 call, teaching the girls how and when to dial the emergency number and what to say.

When asked about the day, 8-year-old Amalie Taylor called the paramedics and EMT “real life heroes ‘cause they actually save people’s lives!"
