Baton Rouge, La. – Baton Rouge General (BRG) was honored at last
week’s Heart in Hand Awards Gala as the recipient of the first ever
Champion of Respect Award. The gala was hosted by Manners of the Heart
at Live Oak Arabians in Baton Rouge.
BRG President and CEO Edgardo Tenreiro accepted the award on behalf of
BRG’s 3500 team members, saying, “Respect has been one of
our core values at Baton Rouge General for years. Every patient is different
and by taking the time to understand each person’s individual goals
and needs, keeping them informed and treating them with dignity, we have
created a patient-centered culture that has been recognized as one of
the safest and highest rated hospitals in the country. We are honored
to be recognized by Manners of the Heart for doing our part to build a
better community.”
Presented by Mayor Sharon Weston-Broome, the Champion of Respect award
presentation followed awards for educator and school of the year. It’s
part of this year’s #BRRespect campaign that asks community members
to pledge to treat each other with respect and do small good deeds each week.
"We are grateful that Baton Rouge General has chosen to lead by example
and integrate #BRRespect into the lifeblood of their hospital,”
said Jill Garner, Manners of the Heart Executive Director. “If companies,
small businesses and individuals follow their lead, together, we can transform
the culture of our city.”
