Baton Rouge General Leaders Meet with Philippines AmbassadorBaton Rouge General leaders met with dignitaries from the Philippines Embassy on August 7 in Washington, D.C. Foundation staff and members of hospital leadership were in town for a fundraising conference and took the opportunity to share the future plans for Baton Rouge General's Burn Program with Philippine dignitaries.
As you might recall, the General's Regional Burn Center cared for four men native to the Philippines who were critically burned in a deadly platform explosion in the Gulf of Mexico last November. Several of those men are continuing care in the center's Outpatient Unit today
This visit with Ambassador Cuisia and other Philippine leaders, gave an update on the workers and provided more information on launching a comprehensive campaign this Fall to enhance the inpatient unit of the General's Burn Center.

Visionary Partners Celebrate Luncheon Success
Thank you to all who joined us last month at our appreciation event celebrating the success of our 2013 Experience the Difference Luncheon. The event, which was co-hosted by Bud and Lydia Parnell of Arthur J. Gallagher and Co., featured a short presentation sharing how gifts from community supporters and the Visionary Partner Society have helped fund projects throughout the hospital.
A special highlight of the event was the announcement from the Culinary and Nutrition Division of Hospital Housekeeping Systems (HHS) that we reached the $50,000 challenge match they issued with an anonymous community donor. They also announced that more than $424,000 was raised in new pledges and donations.
Since the Luncheon began in 2009, more than $1.65 million has been raised through gifts and pledges to support our community, not-for-profit hospital.

Honoring Lauren Savoy Olinde
Pictured above: Friends and family of the late Lauren Savoy Olinde pose for a photo with Baton Rouge General leaders and physicians. The intimate gathering celebrated the commemorative painting being hung in the General's Pennington Cancer Center. As you might recall, the painting was created during the Foundation's 2013 Luncheon in May as Dr. Andy Olinde shared Lauren's courageous story of her battle with melanoma.
