Gulf Explosion Patient Conditions Continue to Improve

Baton Rouge, La. - Baton Rouge General and its Regional Burn Center provided an update today on its three patients, native to the Philippines, who were injured in the Gulf explosion that occurred November 16, 2012.

Currently, two patients have improved from serious condition to fair condition and Mr. Wilberto Ilagan, age 50 remains in good condition.

The treatment for major burns extends for a critical time period following the injury, and is not unexpected to follow a longer course, with the clinical focus surrounding maintaining the airways, IV fluid hydration, nutritional support, and local wound care. Other critical services include occupational and physical therapy, pastoral care and surgical care.
