Patient Secure Identity Technology Enhances Efficiency and Safety
Providing safe patient care begins with accurately identifying patients when they enter the hospital. With the wave of a hand, patients are securely and accurately identified using Baton Rouge General’s palm vein scanning technology Patient Secure Identity (PSI). The system scans the unique vein patterns on a person’s hand and converts this digital image to a number that corresponds with the patient’s medical record. The scanners are installed at patient registration points throughout the hospital’s campuses including Admissions, the Emergency Room, and in affiliated outpatient clinics and facilities.
Leading the region with this technology, Baton Rouge General’s PSI system enhances safety and efficiency by reducing the potential for duplicate medical records which could result in missed information and replication of lab orders and tests.
